Taebaek City

This small city located in the northern part of South Korea is said to be quite a popular destination for locals. In the summer they can go white water rafting and during the winter it is even possible to go skiing up in the mountains. There is even a Casino Hotel located here called Kangwon Land Hotel. The locals don't speak English and nobody will understand what you're trying to say or ask. However, I met one person who could speak English quite well and he was the owner of a Korean Barbeque Restaurant.

A typical small town, the roads are narrow and the shops are all focused in one small area. There is a Dominoes pizza outlet, basically the only international food chain I found. However, there is also one more local fast food franchise mainly selling burgers for those who are not too keen for Korean food.

Taebaek is a beautiful place to be, to simply sit back and enjoy nature. This place is still free from tourists which I think makes it even more exciting to be in. The only setback is the long hours of driving to get there.
